In a bid to take control of the skills gap in the building materials industry and to drive the utilisation of Levy funds across the building materials sector, the Builders Merchants Federation has launched the BMF Apprenticeship Pledge with the stated aim to achieve 15,000 apprentices across the BMF membership by 2030.

KCS currently employ 19 apprentices across its UK business, in a range of roles and levels, including Leadership, R & D, HR, Support, Finance, & Marketing. It recognises that apprenticeships provide an effective way to develop skilled and qualified talent, while offering a fantastic opportunity for apprentices to develop their career with hands-on training and experience putting their skills into place in a business environment.

“We believe our people make a real difference and as a business growing our own talent is an important part of our people strategy”, explains James Mitchell, Managing Director UK & Ireland.

Our apprentice program provides an avenue for driving talent into and growing it within the business, developing the skills we need for our future success. We all have an important role to play in our industry and the skills it needs to continue to succeed, by pledging our support to the BMF’s commitment to apprenticeships and taking on 70 apprentices by 2030 we will continue on our journey of not only developing new talent but also upskilling our existing colleagues to ensure our industry’s success.
