Des Nangles fundrasing for Pecanwood Educational Trust - Update

We are very pleased to say that Des completed Cape Epic MTB successfully. In his own words:

"My personal ambition was to survive the Cape Epic MTB Race, I’m pleased to announce that my team came 299 in the overall GC. It was a fantastically organised event with teams representing 50+ countries taking part.

It was a great experience with high and lows throughout the week, the lows for me was weather, especially the wind and rain, I have a new respect for the teams up north and my cycling work colleagues in the UK that train in inclement weather. On day 2 we had 50-60km per hour winds all day and it may a tough day, a very long day, the wind was always against us on the up-hill sections, I recall chatting to a team from Siberia on Day 3, whilst slowing snaking up a hill in 35C temperatures and they were telling us that they trained in -40C temperatures in the dark for 3 months, needless to say they were finding the heat somewhat stifling at that time.

I got a host of customer and general well wishes during the event with a number of them tracking my daily movements. The support was well appreciated and more often than not our daily result would be communicated to us by our supporters only moments after we crossed the line, (the official Epic result was received around 8pm every day.

I’m raising funds for the improvement of Re-e-lwele Primary School's Football field with the help of donors and benefactors. I hope you will all give what you can to a worthwhile cause.

Supporting members / funders / benefactors will not only be supporting the goodwill and transparent nature of the Cape Epic itself, but will also have the opportunity to leave a legacy imitative behind that will inspire the underprivileged children of our local community. Should donors be kind enough to support this worthy cause and are in a position to make a donation please.

My goal is to raise R40, 000 (£3,000) and some of team from KCS SA have volunteered to assist with the building of the pitch.
